Life Happens

Well, what started as a 10 week assignment back in the middle of February is still going strong. And it looks like it will continue though the end of the year. I’m officially A-list on Southwest Airlines, Gold Elite at Marriott, and President’s Gold at Hertz. In fact, I’m going on a trip to Boston at the end of August (my daughter starts grad school) and the only thing I need to pay for is her airfare. Well, and her tuition. Yikes!

I leave for the airport every Monday at 6AM, work every evening until at least 7PM, get back to the hotel around 9PM. As much as I want to, I’m not sure that any serious training is in the cards. That’s okay. I’ll trade racing for the paycheck. Life happens. Or maybe more accurately, life has to happen.

I had some delusions of getting in race shape again. I went as far as to sign up for a 5K. I won’t be in shape for a 5K, especially since it goes on Sunday morning. But, I am getting on a treadmill in the hotel a couple times a week, and getting out for an hour or so (walk at this point) on the weekends. Slowly but surely I hope to shed some pounds and get back into shape. I’ll be checking in every now and then. Thanks for reading!

  1. Glad to see you blogging! I had a taste of traveling last month, and it was pretty rough! My workout DVDs, hotel treadmills, and waking up obscenely early saved me from missing my routine, but it was really hard on the body. I think a 5K is within your reach...

Good luck with grad school prep. I'm sure she will find it beneficial, and hopefully the cost isn't too bad.
