Something Exciting Happened…

Okay. I guess I lied yesterday. Maybe there are exciting things that can happen during the boring miles. I’m being Imelda Marcos now…

Yup. Shoes. It was time to replace the old GT 2150’s with ASICS newest version the GT 2160’s. In case you missed the changes between the two model, here’s a photo of the GT 2150’s to compare:

You get my drift…..

In all seriousness, our shoes are the one thing that we, as runners, should be especially strict about keeping tabs on. They are the tools by which we ply our trade. We wouldn’t dream of not having the best fastest computer, or newest tablet, but I’m surprised at how many people have no idea how many miles they have on their shoes!

I know it’s time to start looking when I start getting little pains in places that normally don’t hurt. And last week, I started getting some new pains in my shins and hips. I checked my log and sure enough – 400 miles on this pair. Time to start shopping.

These shoes work for me. Firm fit, no blisters or hot spots, and good wear. It’s a relief that I don’t need to head over to a retail outlet to get or look at a different show. Instead I just settled in behind my keyboard and shopped for the best price – currently on sale at REI for $69.93. That’s $30 off standard retail price. If you run in these shoes, beat a path over to REI!

  1. I learned in my heel from hell fiasco that I need a minimalist low heel-drop shoe. Thankfully, they're pretty cheap. So far.

  2. I love those!! Thanks for the link to REI! :) LOVE it when they have a sale!

Shoes...That is the one thing I really try to keep ahead of. There were a few times that I didn't and I was injured... Lesson learned!

  3. That's a good price! I wish this was my brand of shoes! I don't think you can channel Imelda Marcos until you have at least a minimum of 100 pairs just in your hall closet. Not counting your main closet. I'm pretty sure there is fine print to back up what I'm saying somewhere out there in this crazy shoe world.

  4. Yours if the second blog that has dropped REI as a place to get deals. Gotta take the hint!

  5. That's the great thing about running shoes; they're always "upgrading." So, when you find a pair that works, the price just keeps dropping. My favorite Sauconys are now selling for less than half what I initially paid for them; of course, they're harder to track down now.

  6. Shoe love - there's nothing quite like it :) Although I am jealous you get 400 miles from a pair...I must be hard on shoes!

  9. Hahaha, gt2150s. I actually ran in them this morning and I have close to 700 miles on them. No problems, but thinking about replacing them with the 2160s. Let us know how those fair out man. They look sleeker.

  10. Grammar check - I believe it's supposed to read "bestest, fastest computer." Ha ha!

Pretty blue. I like Asics for walking, too, nice cushion, good stability.

  12. I'm an ASICS person too... I really found a home with their G3020, and just picked up the new G3030 version after hitting a little over 450 on my old pair. I'll tell you though, it sure is hard to find those on sale!

  13. I always forget about REI as a running shoe resource. I guess it's because our store here is right across the street from the big Road Runner Sports!
