Still Around..

But not doing much. A few miles here, a few miles there. Reverse weight loss by 2 pounds last week (as in gained a couple).

I’m just finding it difficult to fall into a training regimen these days. Sometimes I really wished I loved running enough to want to commit to it. But the bottom line is I don’t so I’m not. Committed that is. Guess I need to figure out how to get my mojo working:

So far this week – zero miles. Have a phone call this afternoon, and have dinner duty after that, so nothing’s happening today. Maybe tomorrow and Saturday. But then, maybe not. I gots me some seerius mojo issues!

  1. Try getting out on your bike again, on quiet streets or when the bike path isn't so crowded, see how you like it. Ballroom dancing. Ultimate frisbee. A little of this and a little of that. Invent errands where you don't have to carry much and walk them.

    No more sticky buns with out of town guests, ha ha!!! Sorry about that, salad bar next time.

  3. You are like my one and only blog reader and I hate seeing you like this. Here's a pep talk from me to you and I'm someone who has no rights telling anyone how it is because I'm neither here nor there but the bottom line here is for you to be healthy. If running is not your bag, screw it but don't turn your back on maintaining a healthy weight. You may not like running or biking or sweating(!), heck there are lots of people out there who feel the same way but doing just a little bit a day will get your heart working and help you live longer, I mean if you want that. It's hard to find time to fit in exercise but it's even harder to waste chunks of one's life dealing with feelings of inadequacy (fitness wise), lack of motivation or self blame or worse an illness. I know you use to row on your machine. You should go outside and row in some natural surroundings. I'm sure it is a billion times more fun than rowing in a garage. And if you need a kick in the pants, I can volunteer my services.

  4. You've got to LOVE it to do it and I know you love it but you're just in a slight slump...times are challenging right now but you've got to push yourself. You can.

  5. Bleh! Sorry, Glenn...it is hard to get the mojo flowing when the spirit doesn't really care. It will happen when the time is right. Maybe you could work with someone to make you more accountable?

    Our trip up Whitney was a fail :(. Some big fires near Sequoia NP blew over and settled in the valley and at Trail Camp. We got to about 13,000' when Brendan just couldn't breathe and we had to go back down. I was heartbroken. But I guess it's better to be alive.

    Can't wait to meet you tomorrow!!

  6. Glenn, you are probably depressed. AND who wouldn't be in the OC right now. It's really tough. But if you loved running once, then you will again. FORCE yourself. I mean force yourself. Make plans with others to meet and do it. I promise, soon you will be back, but you will have to force yourself again and again first. And you have that in you. Anyone who attempts the Baldy climb has that in them!!!!

  9. Go on get out and have a run (or two). Even if you're out of love with it just now you know there is every chance you'll get that post-run buzz. A couple of feel good simple runs and the mojo will likely take care of itself ;-)

    Great to meet you last week. Sorry we didn't get to chat more. Mojo comes and goes. At least to me it does. I find having a race and goal to shoot for helps get back into it.
