Reality Sets In

About a month ago I made some noise about a 26 week training plan and a certain Stadium to Sea race. But alas, reality (work) has set in. So, no marathoning in the near future for me.

Instead, I’m going to concentrate on base building for the next few months. To do that, I am going to modify and adopt Hal Higdon’s Spring Training program. This program will allow me to put some structure and discipline around a training regimen (please note the lack of the word “program”) while being able to maintain my personal and professional life.

  1. Maybe I'll see you at a different race? I'm doing some 5 and 10k's early in 2013...

  3. I'm definitely over the days of running races under trained. Glad you're taking the long view and building up the base. Good luck!

  4. I'm in a rest phase myself, but plan on tossing in a couple of indoor meets along with a 5k or so for fun with friends.

I haven't even read Hal Higdon yet, but my partner over at www.yourmomreadsourblog.blogspot.com, Bob follows his training methods.

As for work getting in the way of your running I offer a little piece of advice:

    Everything in moderation; especially moderation.

  5. Life happens! I used Hal Higdon's plan for my 1st 1/2 marathon and it worked well. I just found your blog and look forward to reading more!
