I hit the track yesterday for some interval work. Nothing fancy and nothing fast (2 minute 400s), but I left feeling accomplished. And it was nice to get a workout in in less than 45 minutes.
I’m in kind of a weird mental state right now. On the one hand, sitting here this morning, my thoughts are drifting toward the “That really wasn’t all that much fun yesterday” category. On the other hand, I keep telling myself that it would be fun to go on a long slow excursion this weekend. Hmmm. Seems pretty contradictory to me.
Sigh. I’m going to lace up the trail shoes and head into the hills this weekend. But a couple more track/road sessions first….
Congratulations on feeling accomplished, Glenn! Short workouts are really cool sometimes. ::smiles::
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's a bit odd. But what the heck, embrace it.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you I'm sad I never ran in SoCal because I missed out on all those awesome trails. I just drool over the Billy's pictures. I look forward to running some of those trails when I visit!
I think the trail running will be fun for you and hopefully you will really enjoy it! Great job on the track work!
ReplyDeleteI do that back and forth stuff constantly. "I'm never running marathons again and focusing on half....oh but maybe an ultra would be good, if I can get my back to be happy....." Yep, you're pretty normal!
ReplyDeleteTime in the hills = the best cure-all EVER!
ReplyDeleteUGh, this running stuff is becoming 100%, right? Who ever said it was 90% mental lied...our bodies just follow along with whatever we've "decided" upon in our heads; tired, sore, lazy, spry, energetic, fast...some days it's more of a battle than others which is good! Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn,
ReplyDeleteWay to get the track workout in:) Have fun putting the trail shoes on and kicking up the trails!! Hang in there Glenn!
One step at a time...glad you are back on the horse!
ReplyDeleteI was out running the lower backbay this morning. I did 8 miles but it felt terrible. Gotta build up that cardio. Also, noticed that it is getting warm in the mornings. Not sure how I feel about that.
Am I weird? (don't answer that), but I LOVE track workouts!
ReplyDeleteEase into it Glenn. Enjoy the trail run.
Were your ears burning today? I was telling BBJ (one of my running buddies) that you and he are two of a kind. He's signed up for his THIRD San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon because he wants to finish it "on his terms." You two really gotta meet!
It really sounds like you are getting in the variety that is necessary to get out of the funk.
ReplyDeleteHave you read any running magazines lately? they always get me in the spirit. Suggest Marathon and Beyond
