I Think I Can…

Hit 30 miles this week. I put in 7 1/4 trail miles yesterday on Bommer Ridge. That puts me at 24 miles so far. Today (Friday) and Saturday are rest days in preparation (I stayed away from the “T” word) for Rock ‘n Roll relay on Sunday. With seven miles there, I should inch over 30 miles this week. The last time I was over 30 miles was the week of March 15th. Hmm. Wonder what happened that week? Wow. Three months? It’s been a while.

Maybe that’s why the scale isn't moving either. This morning’s weigh in: 224.4 pounds. Up .4 pounds in the last three weeks. Yikes! I’ve fallen off the wagon when it comes to calorie tracking. I’m back on it this week. I’ve got to get this under control. I’m *not* going to run all these miles *and* not lose weight in the process!

Speaking of losing weight – gotta run! It’s National Donut Day! Woo hoo!

  1. I am with you on that.... sometimes it gets frustrating running all those miles and then gaining weight!

Stick to it.... maybe you need to up your miles :)

  2. Feel you on the weight issue. Last year while training for the marthon, I lost maybe 5 pounds at the beginning and stayed that weight through the training program. Of course, I've gained it back since then. This year, I'm changing things up. Starting Monday I'll be running/working out in the morning and tracking my diet. Here's hoping. Track, track, track and I'm sure things will start moving in the right direction for you. :)

  3. Am I the only that thinks it's ironic that National Running Day is the day BEFORE National Donuts Day...shouldn't it be the other way around?

  4. Nope, I am with you Jen - I think it would be even better on the same day. I am thinking donut, run, donut :)

  5. I just commented on a friend who talked about the yummy (I doubt it) spinach smoothing they made for breakfast. My comment - did you shove a few jelly filled in the blender as well! NATIONAL Doghnut Day Hooray! Thanks goodness it comes after National Running Day!

  7. What? Is that true? National Donut Day is 2 days after National Running Day? What a coincidence!

  8. I find it strange that National Donut Day and National Running Day are in the same week.

  10. Hi Glenn,
Nice job on your miles this week:)

I didn't know that there was such a thing as national donuts day. Oh crap, the Krispi Kreme in my city went out of business!

    Happy weekend!

  11. Donuts are my favorite! Yay for national donut day!
Are you getting enough sleep? I tend to gain/not lose if I don't get enough sleep..sounds crazy, I know, but it's true...just a thought. Have a great weekend.

  12. Good luck in the relay and have a great weekend! Great job on the mileage too Glenn! I don't think I have ever seen 30 miles in one week!

  13. Donuts are a weekend, no doubt. I unfortunately had my share of Tim Horton's up in Canada this week.

  15. Good luck on Sunday, Glenn!

Donuts sound like a great way to carbo load. Blueberry cake donuts are my favorite unless I'm at Dunkin' Donuts - then Boston Creme!

  16. Don't forget - I lost only 2 pounds after running 19 marathons (including all the training miles).

You need to monitor calories in and calories out. It took me two years to finally bite the bullet and start tracking calories.

Maybe use this rule of thumb when it comes to calories - if it tastes good you probably should not be eating it :)

Never give up, eventually you will get there.
