A Hill or Two … Again

Wow. Has it really been four weeks since Cal Coast started running hills in Shady Canyon? Yup. And yesterday I ran my second session. Hmm. Last year I was the poster child for consistency. This year not so much.

I’m *not* a person that is gifted with a lot of natural athletic talent (in elementary school my teachers nicknamed my the Walking Encyclopedia). The *only* way I am going to get better is through consistent training. It doesn’t matter how many intervals I whip out, how many hills I run, how many miles I tackle – if I’m not consistent I’m not going to get better.

Last night – 4.3 miles. Got my heart rate above 90% of max for 8 minutes. Oh. And I got to run with Tea Time. Yea!!!!!!

ETP Day 2

  • Training budget: –0.7 miles
  • Calorie budget: –150 calories

  2. Glenn: thanks for inviting me to run with your running group. I really enjoyed the workout. They sure are fast. Makes me feel like a snail!

Speaking of...I will let you know how it goes with Snail's Pace. I'm glad I came out yesterday so that I have something to compare it to.

  6. Hi Glenn,
Good for you and your hills!! I suck at hills....I really do! We have so many of them in Maple Grove that you would think that I would be liking them more by now:) Not a chance! Keep up the great work Glenn! I will be thinking of you when I tackle a few of them on this evenings run:)

  7. Great job on the hills.

    Freaking hills.

I am the same as you - if I don't work very hard at getting better, I will not get better. Makes me want to trip all of those naturally athletic schmucks who can whip out fast times with minimal training. ha.

  8. Well, you know how much I can't run hills well...yet I just keep doing 'em and doing 'em cuz consistency is the key, as you say! Glute training in the gym helps a lot, too. Keep up the hill work, Glenn...it's gonna reap big rewards soon!!! :)

  10. I've been away for awhile but I'm glad to see you are still at it.

I'd take that "walking encyclopedia" as a compliment if I was you.
